Fees & Insurance

Session Fees

Your care, shaped entirely around you—not around what an insurance company will approve.

I do not accept insurance directly, but I provide superbills upon request so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement through your plan.

Why I Don’t Accept Insurance

When insurance is involved, a diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record, session length and frequency can be dictated by what’s “medically necessary” rather than what’s actually optimal and helpful for you, and treatment can be cut short based on coverage limits rather than your progress.

Working outside of insurance means I can accept clients regardless of their coverage. It also means:

  • Privacy: No diagnosis or treatment details are shared with a third party.

  • Flexibility: Session length, frequency, and focus are based on what you need, not a predetermined treatment plan.

  • Individualized Care: You’re treated as a whole person, not confined to a diagnostic label or a one-size-fits-all treatment plan.

  • Continuity: No risk of care being interrupted because a claim was denied or benefits ran out.

Using Out-of-Network Benefits

While I don’t bill insurance directly, many clients are able to get partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. Upon request, I provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the information your insurance company needs to process a claim on your end.

Many PPO plans reimburse a portion (often 50-80%) of out-of-network mental health costs. I’d encourage you to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health (CPT codes 90791, 90837, or 90834)?

  • What percentage is reimbursed, and is there a deductible I need to meet first?

  • Is there a limit on sessions per year?

I’m happy to help answer any questions about this process.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept most major credit and debit cards, plus FSA and HSA cards. A payment method is required to be on file at least 48 hours before your first session. Clients are responsible for any applicable session fees, no-show charges, and late cancellations.
